• Does life get in the way of your fitness plans?
  • Are you low on funds?
  • Do you have stress?

2014-11-14 09.50.25So sometimes life gets in the way.  You have great plans – you even set goals; you might even write them down….then something comes up.  Before you know it, your well laid plan has been pushed to the wayside.

What do you do when life has its own agenda? Here is what I learned through my personal experience to maintain a healthy and attractive physique through my life, careers, failures, successes and setbacks. No longer will life get in the way (for too long anyway 🙂 ).

Sound good? Try these tips:

Issue 1: Low Funds And High Stress

For whatever reason, you cannot afford a gym membership right now.  That’s OK. There are numerous options. Let nature help you: Hills, stairs, streets, mountains and trails are there for you to accelerate your cardio. Walk, run, skip, lunge – if there’s space, there’s no excuse.

If you have a little extra money to spend, there are numerous workout DVDs that are a one time purchase but can be used over and over again.  You get to workout in your own home, on your own schedule regardless of the weather. Beachbody now has an On-Demand feature that lets you stream powerhouse workouts right to you phone or laptop. Seriously, It can’t get any easier!

Issue 2: Family And Relationship Problems

Wine may not always be your friend 😉 It’s hard when your family and other relationships pull you in multiple directions….but use that to your advantage. Yoga, cardio and strength training can actually help relieve stress, put you in a better mood and forget about your problems for a while.

Daily exercise is an antidepressant. When you workout early in the morning to get your spirit on track … and if needed, again in the evening or perhaps during your lunch break – your “hour of power!” Yoga or a long hike cab clear your mind and you spirit.

Like attracts like. If you’re negative, you’ll attract negative. So break the cycle. If you get mentally strong and learn to walk through turmoil with grace and strength, you’ll attract that from other people.  It will come back to you.

Issue No. 3: Time Vanishes

Once you make a commitment to not miss a training day, you will search out and find the time for that crucial 30 minutes of amazing heart-pumping exertion to get blood flowing. Yes, you really can get it done in just 30 minutes a day.  Commitment is the key to building confidence and staying on track mentally.

Have days when you ask yourself ‘Why am I so cranky and mean right now?’ The answer is probably the  you haven’t exercised that day.  Find that 30 minutes in your day. Keep a workout wardrobe handy at all times – in your car, office, etc. Even if you can’t go to a gym you can run a trail to blow off steam before you go home.

If you are tired, grab a friend, roommate, significant other or family member and go for a late-night or early-morning stroll. Empty streets are amazing settings for daily reflection and intimate conversations. Or you can throw on the tunes and just GO!
