Working up a sweat at the gym is great for your body, but can wreak havoc on your skin, hair and clothes.

Here are ten beauty essentials to keep in your bag to stay fresh post-workout.

10 Things to Keep in your Gym Bag:

1. Deodorant: This is great to use even BEFORE your workout! People sweat and some just stink more than others.  Having this on hand will have you reaching confidentially for the lat pull down bar.

2. Cleansing wipes:  Use these cleansing wipes for a quick wipe-down of your face to prevent breakouts as well as a quick way to cleanse your hands after grabbing all that dirty equipment.

3. Body Spray: Sometimes deodorant just won’t cut it and using a light spray may just help you get through those post gym errands before you can get home. Beware- do not over do it and PLEASE don’t over-do using it before your workout! Nothing worse than being “that guy” that burns the nostril hairs of your workout buddies.

4. Lip Balm:  Especially during the winter months, the heat is turned up and the humidity is low. Licking your lips can make you very irritated fast. Swipe on some lip balm and maybe use a tinted balm to give a sheer wash of color to brighten up your face.

5. Body Wash: If you have time for a shower after your gym sesh, having body wash in your stash is a must. Even rinsing off without washing your hair might just make you feel better.

6. Hair ties/Headband: Necessary for all workouts! Keep hair out of your face during that group class with a hair tie or a headband.

7. Hand Towel:  Having your own towel washed in your own washer, ahhhh, nice. Use it to lay on equipment and to soak up all that sweat. Not a beauty item but will protect your skin from breakouts.

8. Water: Hydrate! If you don’t use a re-useable container, grab a bottle from the front desk. Hydrating is critical for recovery, well being, and your skin!

9. Dry Shampoo: Refresh your hair between washes with a dry shampoo. It’s made to remove excess oil and buildup without water, so you’re good to go!

10. Phone Tripod: Stay accountable to your fitness! Again, not an exact beauty item, but keeps you focused on your journey.  It’s quite common to take a selfie in the gym. Share your workout ideas and training with pictures or a quick video. However, don’t hog the equipment to keep getting that perfect shot. Move on.

BONUS –  Brush: If you really put in a serious workout, sometimes you will leave with “witch hair”, it’s going everywhere! Brush it back and re-tie it up!
