I’m Invincible! It’s never going to happen to me! It doesn’t really happen. That’s just a rumor!  I don’t care, I’ll just deal with it later if it happens.  I’ll do ANYTHING to get results.

Does this sound familiar? I know, because these are the things that have rolled through my head, and still run through my head when things get hard.

Why does losing weight, getting lean, and staying lean have to be so hard?  Especially as we get older, yes, it does change. Yes, things seem to catch up to you. Yes, you will feel it.  I’m very guilty of trying any crap-o-la on the shelf or even sold on hidden websites because it claims to be the secret pill, shake, or miracle that will keep me tanned, ripped, and looking fine.

Speaking of tan, did you use to take those tanning pills prior to jumping in a tanning bed? Yup, add that one on the list of  “crazy Sh$t we use to take!”

I understand desperation. I understand embarrassment. I understand the pain of not feeling confident in your own skin. I know, I struggle and have struggled many times. We’re constantly growing to achieve a healthy life.

I seriously remember the levels I would go through to find “skinny”. I can recall going underground to get secret pills supposedly from Mexico, but probably just aspirin, but to me, they were the secret fatloss pill. What is the next HOT pill to take? Picolinate? L-Carnitine? Remember those?  Well today it’s Sensa or junk like that, right?

What does it boil down to?  Seriously, just shut your mouth and choose good foods.

I heard of the 80/20 rule, in which I have heard many times applying to pretty much EVERYTHING you are EVER DOING!  Well, let’s look at it with food, cause seriously, this is what it boils down to.  You can’t out exercise a bad diet. Unless you are a 12 year old boy hyped up on hormones and sports.

The 80/20 rule is 80% of the time- choose good food. Period. Vegetables, fruits, lean meats, whole grains.  Watch your serving sizes, know your intake. Watch your grabby hands that pick up food without thinking.

20% of the time, you can indulge for those social times, the treats you feel euphoria with. What does this really equal to?  Possibly 1 dinner out and some free snacks on the weekend.

BUT- I personally believe this will work if you are in maintenance mode.  Trying to lose weight and then feeling that you have the free ticket to 20% on the weekend can carry over to “the weekend.”

Hand raise, guilty. Eat out on Friday night. Wake up Saturday, and convince yourself “I’m just gonna have pancakes then eat great the rest of the day”  Lunch comes by and a friend invites you over for a BBQ. In your head, “who cares, I’ll just start back eating clean on Monday”

Sabotage.

Start focusing on what it really takes to lose weight. Knowing how to pair the right foods together.  You can use supplements to make eating so frequently easier, like shakes and bars BUT- watch what they are made up of.

The majority of the supplements, shakes, and bars on the market are artificial flavoring, filler filled, preservatives, junk junk junk.  It’s not worth it.  Short term fix. Short term results even if it does work.

You need to learn how to eat healthy and start being snooty! Choose to only put high quality natural foods and supplements in your body.  100% natural beats chemically produced anyday.

Everytime I think of those shakes that are filled with chemicals, artificial flavorings, etc… I think I’m turning the inside of my body into plastic.  Because really, it’s chemically harming me down to the cells.

Get over yourself and looking for the magic pill quick fix. It comes down to natural, whole, clean, foods.  If you need help knowing how to create a meal plan, seek someone out for weightloss tips.
