There’s a lot more to Facebook pages besides the Timeline. Sure, new posts will appear in the News Feed, which is where about half Facebook users spend their time, but the number one tool is your “About” or “Like” page, which basically serves as the information hub for your business. What you actually post is just part of your presence on a social network. There’s a lot more, especially with Facebook. How can you enhance all of that information? Here’s a start:

  • Always use a recognizable profile picture;

It’s a great idea to post pictures of sayings, customers, and other things, but your profile picture should always be something that can be easily associated with YOUR business. I recommend that your logo or other aspects of your branding be present in your cover photo.

Why should you do this? When someone is scrolling quickly through their News Feed, your profile picture will catch their eye better than your name or other text because our eyes are naturally drawn to pictures more than words. You want people to see the profile picture and associate it with your business. If the picture has something other than yourself with no clear branding or logo, they won’t recognize YOU!

  • Complete all applicable sections of your page

The more information you add, the more information Facebook users will be able to find. The most important fields to fill out are the descriptions, category, topics, and all of your contact information. The category and topics lets Facebook know what your page is about. The descriptions are where you can go into more detail about your business to let users that come across your page know what you do and more about your company. Some of it will even make it onto your timeline!

  • Be Engaging

Take the time to respond to readers’ comments that they’ve have left you. If you notice that you’ve gained some ‘likers’ then send them a quick ‘thank you’ message to let them know you’re genuinely grateful they took the time to check your page out. Customer recognition will take you and your business far in the social media world – word of mouth is your best advertising! You never know ‘who knows who’ in the Internet world. Best to cover all your bases from the start with a simple ‘thank you’.

  • Adding links to your website and other social media outlets

Adding a link to your website in your page’s contact info is a MUST! Did you know that you can add more than one link to that section? You can add multiple links. You should add the URLs of the social networks you’re most active on, but you can also link to specific product/service pages, your website’s ‘About’ page, your blog, etc.

These quick tips will send you on your way to a perfect page! Coupled with good content and being responsive, your community should be able to find everything they need on your page!
